Education

Created in 1996, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is the only academic medical center dedicated exclusively to the care of children in western New England and is recognized as one of the leading pediatric teaching hospitals in the country.

We are home to the University of Connecticut’s Department of Pediatrics and their Division of Pediatric Surgery, pursuing innovative basic and clinical research and providing pediatric training to over 500 physicians and allied health professionals annually. The Department offers several two-year fellowships in Pediatric subspecialties and a three-year fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

Each year, students complete their clinical practices in such disciplines as nursing, respiratory therapy, occupational/physical therapy, speech and audiology, clinical nutrition, pharmacy, child life and radiology under the direction of professionals from Connecticut Children’s Education and Development Department.

In addition to UConn, Connecticut Children’s partners with numerous colleges and universities including Yale University, Saint Joseph’s College, Quinnipiac University and Capital Community College to train the pediatric medical professionals of the future.
