HRPP
The Human Research Protection Program is a comprehensive system to ensure the protection of human subjects participating in research. The objective of the HRPP is to assist Connecticut Chjildren's in fostering an ethical culture in the research enterprise, and ensuring that the institution meets ethical principles and regulatory requirements for the protection of human subjects in research. The HRPP consists of various individuals and committees including: the Institutional Official, the HRPP Medical Director, the HRPP Director, the IRB staff, the IRB, the Scientific Review Committee, Research Leadership, investigators, research staff and research pharmacy staff.
IRB
The IRB is a committee appointed by Dr. Paul Dworkin, the Institutional Official. The IRB prospectively reviews the initiation, modification, and continuation of research involving human subjects and approves research in accordance with the requirements of the applicable federal, state and local regulations, the Federal Wide Assurance and institutional policies.
AAHRPP Accreditation
In 2009, the HRPP at Connecticut Children's obtained full accreditation from the Association for the Protection of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP). We are now one of a small group of free-standing children's hospitals to have earned this distinction, which demonstrates our strong commitment to the highest ethical standards in research.
