What if you could prevent cancer cells from multiplying or migrating to other parts of a child’s body? Well, we're working on that. And what if you could guarantee that a pregnant woman’s baby would not grow up to have asthma? We’re working on that too.
Our physicians – along with teams of nurses and other clinical and laboratory staff – are doing the basic research that advances our fundamental understanding of human biology and human disease. They are also conducting the clinical studies – studies involving real patients – that very quickly lead to better interventions and outcomes.
This research comes straight from the hearts and minds of our medical professionals. Some are motivated by the wonder and curiosity about human biology that led them to medicine in the first place. Others have a strong desire to do better for the patients they care about so deeply. Still others seek the thrill of discovering some new piece of knowledge that has the potential to affect in a positive way the lives of thousands and thousands of children.
Research isn’t just the best way to advance medicine and improve health care for children – it’s the only way. And it's happening right here at Connecticut Children’s.
Research Opportunities for Healthcare Professionals
Healthcare professionals who wish to have access to advanced and experimental therapies for their patients and contribute to the medical community’s body of knowledge have opportunities to conduct clinical, basic science, and health services research. Our professional Research Department staff are key resources for investigators at virtually every stage of the research process, from planning and seeking funding to ensuring the highest standards of study conduct. For more information, please see Resources for Investigators or call the Department of Research at 860-545-9905.
Research Opportunities for Patients and Families
We offer patients and families opportunities to enroll in studies that provide them with access to the most cutting-edge treatments available. These treatments advance our understanding of disease and lay the foundations for better therapies for the future. For more information about participation in research projects, please see Resources for Parents.
Information for Sponsors
We have an active clinical trials program with centralized administrative and clinical management. For a list of current studies and contact information, please see Clinical Trials Unit or call 860-545-9981.
