The care team at the CCFC is a multidisciplinary team made of MDs, Nurses, Nutritionists, Social Workers, Respiratory Therapists, a Physical Therapist, medical students and pediatric residents, and an administrative staff. A very important part of our care team are the people with CF for whom we care and their families.
MDs: Pediatric Program Craig D. Lapin, MD Craig M. Schramm, MD Anita Bhandari, MD Melanie Sue Collins, MD Umit Emre, MD Monila Khullar, MD Bhavna Sacheti, MD
Adult Program: R. Frederic Knauft, MD J. Samuel Pope, MD Erika Cappelluti, MD, Hartford Hospital/CT Multispecialty Group - Pulmonology.
Nurses: Pediatrics Debby Potticary, RN, BSN is the Clinical and Research Coordinator for the CCCFC. She coordinates the CF clinic for both pediatrics and adults. She also runs our clinical research program, which involves recruiting people for the various studies and conducting study visits and collecting data.
Adults Dee Rendock, APRN is the Nurse Practitioner who sees adults in the CF clinic at Hartford Hospital and also follows people who are admitted to Hartford Hospital.
Dieticians: Joann Kosinski, RD is the pediatric and adult Dietician for the CCCFC program. The dietician provides nutritional counseling and support for all of the people who attend our center, during clinic visits and also outside of scheduled clinic hours.
Social Workers: Sarah Cabahug, LCSW is the pediatric and adult social workers for the CCCFC program. They are available at all clinic visits and via phone outside of clinic times to provide assistance with dealing with all of the issues of a chronic disease, assisting with coping, providing support and information regarding insurance and financial assistance. They can also make referrals to outside agencies and therapists as needed.
Respiratory Therapists: Toni Grady, RRT, Melaine McLeod, RRT, Lynn Dougherty, RRT and R.B. Curtis, RRT are the pediatric respiratory therapists at CCMC. The adult respiratory therapists is Allison Moreau, RRT. She will be available in the adult CF clinic and will act as a co-coordinator for the adults.
Both the pediatric and adult respiratory therapists will perform pulmonary function testing in the clinics, assist with obtaining necessary respiratory equipment, and teach airway clearance techniques and well as appropriate use and cleaning of respiratory devices.
Physical Therapists: Anne Lapin, MCSP, LPT provides instruction and review of various airway clearance techniques. She is also available to provide advice about exercise, and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
