Mature Driver Safety Program

The Mature Driver Safety Program assess the safe driving abilities of mature drivers (age 65 and older), identifies impairments and provides referrals and information about what can be done to ensure safe driving. The program includes a self-assessment survey and a computer screening. All results are confidential.

A Matter of Balance

A Matter of Balance (MOB), an evidence-based fall prevention program for older adults, is supported by the Administration on Aging and the National Council on Aging. MOB offers practical coping strategies to reduce the fear of falling, such as changing ones environment to reduce fall risks and promoting exercise to increase strength and balance. This program is presented in a small group format at Greater Hartford senior centers.

CarFit: Helping Mature Drivers Find Their Safest Fit

Many older drivers have difficulty fitting into their cars and have issues with blind spots, seat positioning and seat belt comfort. Using a 12-point vehicle checklist, IPC experts recommend personal vehicle adjustments and adaptations and offer community resources that could enhance a mature driver’s safety behind the wheel. Appointments take approximately 30 minutes.
