With a medical staff of nearly 1,100 practicing in more than 30 specialties, Connecticut Children's is a tertiary referral center and provides outstanding care to children of all ages affected by a wide range of conditions. Connecticut Children’s provides care in 20 locations across Connecticut and Massachusetts, including our hospitals in Hartford and Waterbury, neonatal intensive cares units in Hartford and Farmington, a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center in Farmington, five specialty care centers in Danbury, Hartford, Farmington, Glastonbury and Shelton, and several practices conveniently located throughout the state. Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
Our emergency department receives referral patients from more than 30 hospitals throughout the region and has more than 56,000 visits annually. It is staffed 24/7 by board certified physicians and includes a three-year fellowship training program.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
In an 18-bed unit with 24/7 physician coverage at the bedside, we treat children with traumatic injuries, life-threatening illness and those recovering from major surgery.
Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Hartford Hospital (Level 4) and the University of Connecticut Health Center (Level 3)
Our neonatology staff provides exceptional care to nearly 1,000 premature or critically ill newborns in two state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care units each year. Connecticut Children’s neonatology program is ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for 2013-14.
Ambulatory Surgery Center
In our 18,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center in Farmington, Connecicut Children's perioperative serices team cares for children (ages 1-21) and families in need of outpatient surgical services. Each year, our talented surgeons perform more than 10,000 surgical procedures.
Primary Care Center
In the busiest primary care center between Boston and New York, Connecticut Children’s board certified primary care pediatricians offer complete health care services in English and Spanish to children from birth to age 18. Nearly 35,000 primary care visits take place annually.
