Connecticut Children’s employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits beginning the first of the month following a 30 day waiting period. We offer a variety of point of service (POS) plans, which vary in deductible and co-payment amounts but each cover the same health services.
- $20/$35 co-pay for office visits/specialist visits (waived for annual preventive care visits)
- $10/$25/$40 prescription co-pay (waived for certain preventive maintenance prescriptions)
- Vision care is covered
- Out-of-network benefits available in all plans
Connecticut Children’s employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for dental insurance benefits beginning the first of the month following a 30 day waiting period. We offer two preferred provider organization (PPO) plans. Both cover preventive care and basic and major restorative services. One plan also includes orthodontia benefits, which are available to adult and child dependents.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees can set aside earnings on a pre-tax basis in a flexible spending account to pay for certain out-of-pocket health expenses and dependent care services costs.
Group Life Insurance
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center provides group life insurance at no cost to employees. The amount of coverage is dependent upon the employee’s job category. Employees can purchase additional life insurance for themselves, spouse, domestic partner or dependent children.
Supplemental Life Insurance
Universal life (UL) policies for self, spouse or dependent children are available at the employee’s expense beginning after three months of employment.
Paid Time Off
We offer a flexible approach to paid time off (PTO), to be used for vacation, sick, holiday and personal days. Employees accrue PTO beginning the first pay period. Additional PTO hours are accrued weekly during the year based on number of years of employment and job category.
Extended Illness Program
Our extended illness program (EIP) provides 100 percent income replacement for extended personal illnesses. Employees accrue time weekly, beginning the first pay period. This program coordinates with short term and long term disability coverage.
Short Term Disability Protection
Employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week are eligible to purchase short term disability protection. Short term protection provides up to 60 percent of salary, up to $1,500 per week, for disability leave up to 90 days.
Long Term Disability Protection
Children’s provides long term disability insurance for full-time, Modified Work Week (MWW) and Weekend Only (WKO) employees. The protection plan pays up to 60 percent of salary, up to $12,500 per month, beginning after a 90 day period of disability leave.
Retirement Savings Plan
Connecticut Children’s sponsors a 403(b) savings plan comprised of three components:
|1.||Employee contributions (up to the IRS maximum annually)|
|2.||Employer matching contributions at 100 percent on the first three percent of pay and 50 percent on the next two percent of pay|
|3.||Annual core contribution|
The annual core contribution is tiered based on the sum of an employee’s age and years of service. Employees must work 1,000 hours each calendar year to be eligible for the core contribution. All employees hired after January 1, 2010 are automatically enrolled in the retirement savings plan.
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center encourages continuous learning and development. We offer tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 each academic year to employees working 20 or more hours per week (pro-rated for part-time employees). Employees are eligible after a six month waiting period.
