Community Service Projects
Students and other individuals who must complete service hours for educational or organizational participation requirements are able to complete their hours in the volunteer program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Volunteers must be at least 14-years-old and agree to complete a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service within a six month period.
We expect our community service volunteers to take the commitment to Connecticut Children's Medical Center seriously. Before beginning volunteer hours, a Community Service Project Agreement must be signed by the applicant, parent or guardian (if the applicant is younger than 18) and a representative of the agency requiring the volunteer service. Regular attendance is expected. Two unexcused absences will result in duties being assigned to another volunteer.
Reference letters and verification of hours will be provided only if deemed appropriate by Volunteer Services and the volunteer has completed the agreed upon hours of community service.
How to Apply
Volunteers are required to be at least 14-years-old, though opportunities in some departments require volunteers to be at least 16 or 18 years of age. Aside from summer volunteers, we ask all volunteers to commit to one year of service. Students are asked to commit a minimum of 50 hours per year.
The application packet includes:
- Volunteer Agreement
- Pledge of Confidentiality
- Immunization Documentation
- Parental Consent Form (if applicable)
- Community Service Project Agreement
Applications for ongoing volunteer service may be submitted at any time. All forms contained in the application packet must be completed and returned to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center by mail or faxed to 860.545.9525. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
