Dr. Verissimo received training in mind-body medicine during her master’s course work including guided imagery, teaching breath work relaxation strategies, hypnosis, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and HeartMath biofeedback. She has extensive training in hypnosis with particular focus on pediatric hypnosis from the National Pediatric Hypnosis Training Institute and American Society Clinical Hypnosis. Her medical practice includes pediatric patients who have chronic pain, chronic or life threatening illnesses, anxiety, needle phobia, anticipatory nausea, sleep disturbances, and habit disorders. Dr. Verissimo also uses M Hand massage technique when applicable.
Dr. Verissimo assists patients who will have pectus excavatum repair (Nuss procedure) in the pre- and post-operative setting by teaching mind-body techniques in order to empower patients with self-relaxation. This unique collaboration with surgical colleagues has been well received and publication of this collaboration is cited below.
