Lyme disease is the most commonly reported vector-borne illness in the United States and is particularly burdensome for Connecticut children. Since the primary care provider is usually the first health care provider to see children with the signs and symptoms of Lyme disease, he or she will be in the best position to manage the patient, with specialty guidance as needed.
