Practice Quality Improvement The Practice Quality Improvement Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is a shared vision with a focus on implementing quality improvement (QI) initiatives within the medical center and bridging sustained improvements in the delivery of care to the practicing pediatric community. Connecticut Children’s is a Portfolio Sponsor in the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Portfolio Program. Connecticut Children’s evaluates its own QI projects against ABP standards for Maintenance of Certification (MOC). Physicians who participate in Connecticut Children’s portfolio projects and meet ABP completion requirements will receive credit for the Performance in Practice component of MOC (Part 4). Those who participate are also eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Why participate in Connecticut Children’s Practice Quality Improvement Program? Physicians have a lot to balance: maintaining licensure and certifications, managing the practice, getting reimbursed for services, all while providing quality patient care. It can be challenging to find the time, support, and infrastructure to implement a Quality Improvement project. The Connecticut Children’s Practice Quality Improvement Program has taken this to heart; we work hard to simplify the process and provide support along the way. If our current projects do not pertain to your professional goals or practice, please contact us. Since we are an MOC Part 4 portfolio sponsor approved by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), we can develop and approve our own MOC projects against ABP standards. Our hope is that, with our support, you can implement data-driven, continuous quality improvement that is helpful in your daily activities and becomes a valuable part of your practice’s culture.
