HARTFORD, CONN. – Connecticut Children’s recently named Howard Sovronsky as the new Chief Behavioral Health Officer.
Mr. Sovronsky joins Connecticut Children’s with more than 30 years of leadership experience in behavioral health care, including as Chief Operating Officer of Community Health Resources (CHR) in Windsor, a large community-based behavioral health services agency. Prior to that he served in numerous leadership roles throughout the State of New York, working to enhance access to behavioral health care in communities across the state.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sovronsky has been known for his ability to build partnerships between health and service providers. He will guide this important work at Connecticut Children’s, providing expertise throughout the organization and its community partners, including within the Office for Community Child Health and the Child Health and Development Institute of Connecticut.
Such partnerships are crucial to the health and well-being of children with behavioral health needs, for whom coordinated, co-managed care between physicians, mental health clinicians and community resources is particularly important. With the nation facing a behavioral health crisis—as many as 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year—Connecticut Children’s is committed to expanding behavioral health services and access for all families. Mr. Sovronsky will help lead the way.
“We’re fortunate to have someone of Howard’s intelligence and passion joining our team,” says Glenn Focht, MD, President of the Connecticut Children’s Specialty Group. “His passion for integrated behavioral health services and his deep relationships and knowledge in this field will make an immediate impact on Connecticut Children’s and the families we serve.”
