Grow Strength: “I made him promise I would dance again…and I did!”

It was a pneumonia diagnosis that revealed a 30-degree curve in young Sabella’s spine at the age of 6. She was referred to Connecticut Children’s Orthopedics division where she was followed closely by Jeff Thomson, MD, for years before she underwent spinal fusion surgery to correct her debilitating scoliosis. Now a teenager, Sabella’s love for dance defines her. She worried surgery would end her dancing career, a thought that was devastating. But thanks to the surgical expertise and reassurance of Connecticut Children’s doctors, Sabella is back on the dance floor and defying odds. She credits her doctors for always having her back, both figuratively and literally. Watch her emotional story below.
