Research

Affiliated with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, researchers in the department of emergency medicine at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center pursue an array of investigations in clinical and basic research that advance the practice of pediatric emergency medicine. Most of our research is federally and industry funded. Our active research initiatives include:

  • Abdominal pain recidivism
  • Appendicitis evaluation
  • Asthma and obesity
  • Concussion discharge instruction
  • Echocardiography in the emergency department (ED)
  • Electrocardiography for chest pain in the ED
  • Intranasal fentanyl for sickle cell pain
