Clinic for Variations of Sexual Development
Connecticut Children’s is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children of all ages with variations of sexual development. While these conditions exist on a spectrum, specific diagnoses include: Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome and Gonadal Dysgenesis.
Multidisciplinary specialists from our departments of Genetics, Urology, Psychiatry, Psychology and Endocrinology (GUPPE) provide treatment options in a family-centered environment where the patient’s feelings are of utmost importance.
GUPPE is overseen by co-medical directors Priya Phulwani, MD (Endocrinology) and Jill Bernstein, MD (Urology). Bonnie Scranton, LCSW works with families regarding understanding and adjusting to their diagnoses and supporting the psychosocial needs of children, teens and parents.
