Therapy Dog Program
The Therapy Dog Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center plays an integral role in the healing process of our patients and is one of the most beloved programs at the main campus. The program offers patients staying on inpatient floors the opportunity to bond with certified, fully trained therapy dogs during weekly scheduled visits to the Medical Center. Every therapy dog is accompanied by his or her owner/trainer at all times throughout the visit.
Connecticut Children’s is currently seeking certified pet therapy dogs for its Therapy Dog program. Interested applicants must meet the following guidelines:
- Therapy dogs must be certified through Pet Partners or an organization with similar criteria
- Dogs must be up to date with all vaccines
- Owners must be available weekday mornings and early afternoons every other week
- Please note, our Therapy Dog Program does not run on weekends
To get started, download a volunteer application. All forms contained in the application packet must be completed and returned to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center by mail or faxed to 860.545.9525.
Due to the overwhelming volume of applications we receive, we cannot accept application packets that are dropped off at the medical center. Incomplete applications will not be considered. For more information, please email Volunteer Services.
