When the doctor entered the room, she was pleasant and polite. She asked [...] about what had been happening in her life and noted in her chart that she had lost 20 pounds. When she asked about our visits with the dietitian, I explained that we had met with her once and had also met with the physiologist once.At that point, she reviewed the missed appointments, and her tone noticeably changed. It felt less supportive and more reprimanding. As a 48-year-old parent, I felt as though I was being spoken to in a condescending manner rather than as a partner in my daughter's care. She explained the structure of the program and emphasized the importance of keeping all appointments. I made it clear that the missed appointments were not [...]'s fault, but ours as parents. We are a family of six who relocated from the West Coast two years ago. We do not have family nearby, and we do not yet have a strong local support system to help with scheduling or transportation. While we fully understand that it is our responsibility to keep or reschedule appointments, the delivery of this message did not feel supportive or collaborative.Even when she expressed that they would love to continue working with us and [...], the tone made it difficult to feel encouraged to move forward with care. I respect her passion and commitment to the program; however, in a healthcare setting, tone and communication style matter. A more empathetic and supportive approach would have made a significant difference in how the conversation was received.

We always look forward to meeting with Dr. Williams. She has been a great resource and helping [my child] be successful with his weight management and she is always prepared and thinking of ideas of how to best help him.

Dr. Williams really goes the extra mile in explaining possible therapies, gathering input from my daughter and myself and really listening to my daughter's concerns, especially when she is frustrated by making no or little progress. Dr. Williams has a gift for explaining what is a very complicated issue and keeping hope alive even when progress seems impossible. I would recommend her to everyone I know whose child has a similar issue.

Dr. Williams is an exceptional care provider. She thoroughly explains everything to both my son and to me in a very understanding way. She engages my son in the discussion of his care, allowing him agency over his own health. She is kind and compassionate, never judgmental or condescending. How fortunate we are to have been referred to her and have her treat my son. I will be forever grateful!
