Connecticut Children’s is committed to helping children reach their full potential. Our efforts to keep children well and thriving, known as “population health," include strengthening families and communities through partnerships so they are best positioned to support children’s optimal health, development and well-being; advancing initiatives that address the social determinants of health, such as healthy housing, food and nutrition, early literacy, and violence prevention, that are known to have a profound impact on child health and development; helping community pediatricians and family practitioners provide the highest quality of care to children; advancing equity in healthcare and beyond; and engaging all sectors, beyond child health services, that impact children’s outcomes.

Community Child Health

Connecticut Children’s Office for Community Child Health is nationally recognized to impact child health, development and well-being, such as housing, transportation, food and nutrition, and family support services.

Mental Health

We specialize in the mental health needs of children, teens, and young adults. We take these issues as seriously as any form of health care, and work together with families and pediatric specialists to help children on their mental health journey.

Care Network

The Care Network establishes the best practices to provide more coordinated care. The network aims to improve efficiency, safety, and the fiscal health of the healthcare system for physicians and patients.

Advocacy

One of the most effective ways to make our communities better for children, now and in the future, is legislative advocacy. We support laws and policies that help prevent injuries and improve access to health care.

Assessments

Connecticut Children’s conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment every three years and reports progress in addressing needs identified in those assessments through annual Community Benefit Reports.
