The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU, provides care for babies born prematurely or with health challenges.

Through our Care Alliance with Hartford HealthCare, Connecticut Children’s provides Level 4 NICU care at Hartford Hospital – the highest possible level of newborn care.

As a Level 4 NICU, no matter how complex or critical a baby’s health needs are, our NICU at Hartford Hospital can provide the right care.

The NICU is staffed 24/7 by our board-certified neonatal physicians, and all team members have specialty education in the care of newborns.

Located one floor below labor and delivery in Hartford Hospital, and physically connected to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, our NICU is designed to surround you and your baby with all the support and expertise you need.
