The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or NICU, provides care for babies born prematurely or with health challenges. Connecticut Children’s is known for this highly specialized care – and for providing a supportive, comforting experience for families when they need it most.
Connecticut Children’s provides Level 3 NICU care at UConn Health in Farmington, which includes care for very small or very sick newborn babies.
As a Level 3 NICU, Connecticut Children’s NICU at UConn Health provides comprehensive care to critically ill infants, including advanced respiratory support, advanced imaging technologies, and access to a full range of pediatric medical subspecialties.
The NICU is staffed by Connecticut Children’s board-certified neonatal physicians, and all team members have specialty education in the care of newborns.
Connecticut Children’s Magnet Designation for nurses is an achievement earned by only 6% of the nation’s hospitals, and our entire Division of Neonatology is ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report 2020-21.
Located just down the hall from labor and delivery in UConn Health, our NICU is designed to surround you and your baby with all the support and expertise you need.
