Katherine (Katie) Hinderer, PhD, RN, CNE, NEA-BC (she/her/hers) is the Associate Chair, Research - Nursing in the Connecticut Children's Research Institute and a Senior Nurse Scientist in the Institute for Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP). She leads Nursing Research at Connecticut Children's Dr. Hinderer has over 25 years of professional nursing experience with expertise in research, mentoring, evidence-based nursing practice, and interprofessional education. Dr. Hinderer is dual-board certified as a Nurse Executive-Advanced and a Nurse Educator. Dr. Hinderer supports research in a variety of pediatric-focused areas. Her program of research focuses on nursing well-being and workplace issues, pediatric behavioral health, and end-of-life decision-making cultural implications of advance care planning. Dr. Hinderer loves mentoring and working with interprofessional colleagues and clinical nurses on research and implementation science. Dr. Hinderer is a 2024 recipient of the Nightingale Award for Nursing Excellence, a 2025 Heilbrunn Nurse Scholar (Rockefeller University), and the 2025 recipient of the Virginia Henderson Award for Excellence in Nursing Research from the Connecticut Nurses' Association. Dr. Hinderer was appointed to the American Nurses Enterprise Research Advisory Council in 2025. Katie resides in Connecticut with her husband and 2 sons.  She enjoys reading, spending time outdoors with her family, crochet, and art.
