Quality of Care Resources The Joint Commission The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization, accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. Connecticut Children’s has been accredited by the Joint Commission since opening its doors in 1996, and has maintained its certification by adhering to a strict set of standards. We have teams that inspect all areas of the hospital to make sure each area is following these standards. Twice a month, trained teams conduct a survey just like the Joint Commission’s to help us to improve and always be ready.
