Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-up Program The Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-up Program at Connecticut Children’s provides neurologic and developmental assessments and care to babies who remain at high risk after discharge from Connecticut Children’s NICUs. Babies may also be referred from other NICUs across the region. For up to two years, ongoing comprehensive care for a range of complex issues is provided through the interdisciplinary services of neonatologists, a neurologist, nurses, and occupational and physical therapists. Therapists use standardized testing such as Bayley Scales of Infant Development for assessing developmental milestones. Connecticut Children’s NICU staff may also work with primary care providers to coordinate other services such as Birth to 3, speech therapy and subspecialty appointments and referrals.
