Common Skateboarding Injuries

Skateboarding is a sport that is enjoyed mostly by pre-teens and teenagers. Injuries in skateboarding are almost always caused by falls or crashes while attempting new tricks. Sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations to the arms and wrists are very common.

As more difficult tricks are attempted and the crashes become harder, there is an increased risk of sustaining a concussion. Any unusual symptoms that arise following a fall should be examined by a medical professional as soon as possible.

While there are no specific exercises to help prevent injury while skateboarding, the best injury prevention methods are to wear the proper protective equipment that is available for the head, wrists, and knees.
