Catherine (Cathy) Alvarez, MA, RN, CNML, HNB-BC, PCCN, is an Education Specialist at Yale New Haven Hospital, in New Haven, CT. Cathy has 18 years of nursing experience, and is certified as a Nurse Manager and Leader, Holistic Nurse and Progressive Care Nurse. Cathy designs and implements holistic nursing education programs that specifically focus on self-care, mindfulness, and resiliency. In addition to her role at Yale, Cathy is a nurse educator for the American Holistic Nurses Association Integrative Healing Arts Program and serves as a faculty advisor for the Birch Tree Center for Healthcare Transformation.

Kari has extensive experience in nursing leadership development and professional development. She received her Master of Science in Administrative Leadership and Supervision in Adult Education from the University of Wisconsin, is certified in Nursing Professional Development, and is a certified coach through the International Coach Federation. She served as co-editor of the Journal for Nurses in Professional Development; and served as vice president and is past president of the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD). Kari received the ANPD award “Excellence in Educational Design,” and the prestigious ANPD Belinda E. Puetz award.
