Amenities and Services Food and Nutrition Connecticut Children’s will provide your child’s meals while he or she is in the hospital. You may bring in food for your child after checking with your child’s nurse. Food for family members is not provided but is available from a variety of places. Cafeteria The One World CafĂ© is located on the ground floor of the Connecticut Children’s main campus at 282 Washington Street, Hartford. Hartford Hospital’s cafeteria offers extended hours. If you are interested in dining there, please ask a staff member for directions. United Technologies Family Resource Center The Raytheon Technologies Family Resource Center is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our patients and families through family-centered care, education, and support. All patients and families are welcome to use the Raytheon Technologies Family Resource Center and its services during their experience at Connecticut Children’s. GetWell Network Communication, Education, and Entertainment… Right from your television screen! At Connecticut Children’s, your TV will be used for more than entertainment. Your healthcare team will use the TV to keep you informed and to provide you with education on your child’s health condition. You can also make requests and provide feedback through your TV. Connecticut Children’s entertainment package will provide access to your child’s favorite television shows, movies, games, and the internet. During your admission, be sure to ask your care team how to use all of these features. Family Kitchens Family kitchens are located in each Medical/Surgical unit, the NICU Family Lounge and in the PICU family suites. Each kitchen has a coffee machine, toaster, microwave and refrigerator. Please label food with your name and date. All unlabeled food is thrown out every three days. You will also find an ice and water machine. Please help yourself. Vending Machines Drinks and snacks can be found in vending machines located on the ground floor of Connecticut Children’s main campus at 282 Washington Street, Hartford when you turn left off the elevators. A closer vending machine might be available. Ask your child’s nurse for directions. Restaurant Delivery Many area restaurants will deliver to Connecticut Children’s. Your child’s nurse can provide you with takeout menus and help you make arrangements for delivery. Breastfeeding A lactation room and breast pumps are available. We also have lactation consultants to help you. Your child’s nurse can help you arrange these services. ATM Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are located in the One World CafĂ© (cafeteria) on the garden or “G” level and in the 85 Seymour Street Medical Building. Computer Access Computers are located in waiting areas for family use to access email accounts and the Internet. The Medical/Surgical units and the intensive care units have wireless access for your personal devices. The Boccaccio Family Gift Shop Hours: Monday- Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm Phone Number: 860.545.9385 The Boccaccio Family Gift Shop is located on the 2nd floor and is filled with toys, stuffed animals, craft kits, card games, and coloring books. We can deliver these gift items to the child’s room, just ask a gift shop team member. We also carry toiletries, greeting cards, Connecticut Children’s logo wear, snacks and so much more. The Boccaccio Family Gift Shop stands in tribute to Santo and Marianna Boccaccio, who came from humble beginnings to provide a better life for their children. It reflects the desire of all parents and grandparents, who bring their kids to Connecticut Children’s, to help them achieve their healthiest, happiest, best possible futures. Laundry Washers and dryers for family use are located in the NICU and PICU family sleeprooms and on the 6th floor. A staff member will be happy to show you where they are located. We do supply the detergent (kindly donated by the Connecticut Children’s Foundation) if you wish to use it. Newspapers You may purchase daily newspapers, such as The Hartford Courant, at the Friends Gift Shop located on the second floor. Local Hotels The Residence Inn by Marriott Hartford-Rocky Hill has a negotiated corporate rate for guests of Connecticut Children’s. The hotel is an all-suite property located off of I-91, exit 23, ten minutes south of Hartford. Book your reservation and receive the corporate rate.
