Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Under the direction of Jeffrey Hyams, MD, an international pioneer and leader of advanced inflammatory bowel disease treatments, the Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at Connecticut Children’s is the largest between Boston and New York.

Our team provides patient- and family-centered care to more than 800 children affected by ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Care at Connecticut Children’s includes access to the very latest clinical therapies including novel biologic agents being evaluated in clinical trials.

As a leader in IBD research, our top physicians and researchers lead a range of clinical trials and are at the forefront of scientific discoveries improving the quality of life for children living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Research interests include:

  • International clinical trials for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
  • Translational studies to better understand response to standard of care therapies
  • Interactions between microorganisms and epithelial surfaces
  • Natural history of IBD
  • Nutrition support
