My daughter Kiandra started speech therapy at just 8-months-old. We’ve had many successes and a few setbacks but her therapists never gave up on her. She is now five and we are still a part of the speech-language department—our relationship with the department feels like family. We visit once a week and are always made to feel welcomed. Speech therapy has really helped Kiandra developed verbal skills and confidence in communicating. It also taught me skills I can use to continue helping her. We still have a long way to go before she can communicate effectively with others, but her speech is much clearer and that’s all thanks to her speech-language therapists at Connecticut Children’s. — Donna

My 7-month-old daughter has Down syndrome and has faced feeding challenges since birth. Once a week, we travel from Fairfield to see Connecticut Children’s speech-language therapists. Their expertise in feeding has been invaluable to helping our daughter eat better and grow. — Corrine
