ED/Transport

For patients requiring pediatric transport services to or from the Medical Center, Connecticut Children’s Critical Care Transport Team offers 24/7 transport, staffed by highly trained professionals who have the essential skills and expertise to care for critically ill and high-risk infants, children and teens. The team includes a highly-skilled nurse, respiratory therapist, and board certified physician with advanced training. A transport ambulance is uniquely equipped with tools and supplies specifically for babies and children, including ECMO services.

To coordinate a neonatal or pediatric patient transport, call Connecticut Children’s One Call Physician Access Line at 1-833-PEDS-NOW (1-833-733-7669)

When you call for pediatric transport as a referring physician, Connecticut Children’s pediatric emergency medical attending will provide immediate medical recommendations and work with you to determine the transfer needs. The attending functions as a medical control physician for the transport team, maintaining communication with the team in order to provide optimal care for patients during the transport process.

Members of the transport team are available to provide educational programs on the transport of critically ill or injured children and other related topics to community practice staff. Call 860.545.9191 for more information.
