Connecticut Children’s Medical Center provides a comprehensive array of pediatric surgical services, from routine procedures to complex surgeries, in a fully-equipped surgical center that includes state-of-the-art operating, special procedure and recovery rooms.

With the latest diagnostic protocols, surgical treatments and leading research at our fingertips, Connecticut Children’s board-certified pediatric surgeons are committed to advanced practices and use minimally invasive surgical techniques whenever possible to treat neonatal patients, infants, children, and teens.

With more than 10,000 general surgery procedures performed from head to toe each year, Connecticut Children’s surgical care includes prenatal consultations for high-risk pregnancies and 24/7 patient transport, diagnosis and pediatric anesthesia services.

Our pediatric surgery specialists correct conditions of the head and neck, chest, abdomen, gastrointestinal tract, endocrine glands, and soft tissues.

Programs & Services

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center includes a certified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Level 4 and Level 3 neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), wherein our surgical specialists provide advanced care for critically ill infants and children who need high-level care surrounding surgery.

We are also leaders in the use of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), a procedure that uses an artificial heart and lung to deliver oxygen to the body in children of all ages.
