Affiliated Surgical Services Connecticut Children’s Department of Surgery relies on several affiliated surgical services to provide the safe and quality care to children of all ages. Anesthesiology, pathology and radiology are key components to positive surgical outcomes. Anesthesiology Our board-certified anesthesiologists, with pediatric anesthesia fellowship training, are committed to providing the highest quality patient- and family-centered care to children needing surgery, invasive procedures and pain management at Connecticut Children’s. Anesthesiology services may also be provided for children undergoing computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other interventional procedures. Pathology Connecticut Children’s pathologists are board-certified physicians who play a critical role on a patient care team to treat children and guide care. These specialists interpret medical lab tests to help prevent illness or monitor a chronic condition. Pathology is integral to health care, as a diagnosis is the foundation of all patient care. More than 70 percent of all decisions about diagnosis, treatment and discharge rely on medical test results. The vast majority of cancer diagnoses are made by pathologists.
