The multi-disciplinary Outpatient Mental Health Clinic supports children, teens and families with a diverse array of mental health challenges. The clinic includes team members from Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatry and the Center for Care Coordination, specifically: 

  • Psychologists to help kids and teens navigate the mood, behavioral, educational and relationship impacts associated with chronic illness.
  • Licensed Social Workers to manage trauma response, depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders.
  • Psychiatrists to facilitate symptom management through the use of medications.
  • Care Coordinators to connect patients and their families with long-term support close to home. 

Mental Health is just as important as physical health, and the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic is dedicated to supporting patients' social and emotional needs.

Referrals

Currently, our services are only available to existing patients in one of Connecticut Children's specialty clinics. If your child isn’t a patient, but you’re looking for mental and behavioral health support, you can find resources here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, a referral is required to make an appointment. Referrals must come from the Connecticut Children's specialty clinic where the child or adolescent is an existing patient. 

The clinic is located at 85 Seymour St., Suite 918 in Hartford. The building is across the street from the Medical Center. 

In most cases, the patient will be scheduled for a therapy appointment with a psychologist or social worker.

Parents and guardians are required to attend the initial appointment and should plan on attending most appointments.  Many appointments will include parents or guardians as they are often a component of care planning for home, social and school activities.   

The clinic offers virtual visits for patients with a MyChart account. We prefer the initial therapy appointment occur in person. If the patient requires psychiatry services, the first appointment must occur in person. 

If the patient is unable to make a scheduled appointment, notify the office by calling 860.837.9700 as soon as possible. Patients may be discharged from services if they repeatedly cancel with less than 24 hours notice or do not show up for their scheduled appointment.
